Dataverse Network Application First Impressions, Post Installation Beta mode^ Update #2

This is my second post after a long time and covers a lot of updates. After completing scoping and setting goals for the project before the break, i started the installation and configuration of Dataverse Network after the break starting from 7th January. As usual, before actually installing any software for real, you have to go via the testing phase and so did i !

A side note on geospatial data sharing and spatial data infrastructures (SDI)

This blog post is dedicated to provide a general overview over the field of geospatial and environmental data sharing. The term geospatial is actually tautologous: The prefix "geo" implies geography, which always relates things to each other based on their location, where nearer things are stronger related than things further away from each other (Tobler’s 1st law of geography).

My Christmas Break.

Hi All I hope everyone had a great christmas.

Over the break I set myself two goals Learn Ruby on Rails and Get a patch accepted to a open source project and it seems I achieved both of them. This blog post will be dedicated to my first foray into the open source world and a review of my experience so far.

HathiTrust Non-consumptive Research Pilot: Analysing the New Zealand Corpus

Arrived in Auckland on Friday. What more could I ask for? Beautiful weather (well, at least for the first two days), a fantastic city (or so say my first impressions), and an interesting project to work on. VIVO data ingest: The basics

Coming from a background of knowing very little to nothing about the semantic web, RDF and SPARQL, I have perhaps had a steeper learning curve than most. To help people who would be starting at a very basic level too, I thought I would go over this.
